1980 Fiesta shift lever
Hi Fiesta fans,
I am new to the form and not sure if this is the area to post a technical question. I have a 1980 Fiesta with a 4 speed manual. The shift lever spins around freely. I tried to remove the lever from inside the car but can't seem to figure out what is holding the lever in to the car. Has anyone experienced this problem? Thank you in advance. Mrcarguy |

I'm guessing no one had this problem or am I describing my problem wrong?

If I rem right:
To remove your shifter, you will need to remove the knob, boot, e-clip & etc from top side first. Then from under the car remove the 4 10mm nuts holding the "box" like unit to underbody. The shifter should just drop down, be careful of the spring on shaft that goes to transx, (it pulls the shifter to one side). Sounds like the nylon part of the shifter has gone caput. Parts are getting harder to find for this critter. Mike |
